Secure remote access solutions to enable business continuity for leading banking institution in Hong Kong

Solutions to support remote work were delivered with agility and scalability in one week Hong Kong – 30 June 2020  NTT Ltd., a world-leading global technology services provider, today announced the successful deployment of a spectrum of managed secure remote access solutions to enable business continuity for a leading banking and financial services institution in Hong Kong.

The recent global pandemic has become a breeding ground for cyberattacks as organisations implement remote work and risk exposing themselves with the reliance on web technologies. The recent NTT’s 2020 Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR) observed that cyberattackers have leveraged the pandemic to disrupt businesses since mid-January 2020 and that attack type and volume have escalated daily. As a leading bank institution in Hong Kong, it is critical for the bank to ensure its entire IT architecture, from infrastructure to applications and endpoint is well protected, to secure organizational and client data. To enable thousands of employees in Hong Kong to remain secure and productive while remote working, and to continuously serve customers in a committed and timely manner, NTT implemented the best of its kind risk and compliance solutions within a week. Flexible and secure multi-factor authentication (MFA) solution was adopted to allow the bank’s employees to access network, critical business data and cloud applications securely, wherever they are located and from any device. The solution simplifies governance of user access by providing the bank with assurance and visibility into users and their devices, as they access applications. By automating the monitoring and reporting user entitlement, the bank can better detect compliance violations, inappropriate access and identity risk. The increase in network traffic also hastened the need for the bank to rapidly adapt their automated monitoring approaches to ensure employees have consistent connectivity and reliable access to network services and applications. As part of its managed expertise, NTT continued to support the bank with the network and infrastructure monitoring platform to avoid any operational disruption. With Hong Kong as the host office, NTT helped to streamline operations and extend support to their 40,000 employees from 13 countries in Asia Pacific.

“With the acceleration of remote work in the new normal, security and speed of execution are key elements in ensuring critical business functions can continue to perform without disruption to the end-user experience. As a global trusted technology partner, we were able to help the bank meet their urgent business needs with our service expertise; ensuring business continuity at times of disruption and also resiliency for recovery,” said Alex Chan, Head of Solutions – Hong Kong, NTT Ltd.

To support the changing computing, collaboration and communication needs of enterprises while ensuring security under the new normal, NTT offers a full suite of solutions from Modern Collaboration, to Secure Remote Access, Hybrid Cloud VDI and Digital Event, helping organizations meet their mobility needs and redefine remote workplace. NTT is the listed service provider on the reference list of the Distance Business (D-Biz) Programme launched by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the HKSAR Government, which supports Hong Kong enterprises with the adoption of IT solutions to ensure business continuity during the pandemic.
