NTT commits to public transparency and accountability through the UN Global Compact initiative

NTT’s commitment to the initiative follows the development of its sustainability framework to create a more connected and sustainable future

London, 7 September 2022 NTT Ltd., a leading IT infrastructure and services company, is today announcing that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative, a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

As a member, NTT commits to making the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact initiative on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption part of its strategy, culture, and day-to-day operations. It also further commits to public accountability and transparency around its corporation.

This follows the development of NTT’s sustainability framework which includes its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2030 and growing its portfolio of smart solutions to support its clients and partners in reducing over 200m tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by 2026.

“Through our participation in the UN Global Compact initiative, we hope to make a clear statement to our customers and stakeholders that we are dedicated to creating a connected and more sustainable future for all”, said Abhijit Dubey, Global CEO at NTT Ltd.

“We are proud to be a part of this great initiative and strongly believe that sustainable business practices rooted in universal principles will make a significant difference to the longevity and wellbeing of our planet.”

As part of the UN Global Compact, NTT will partake in the annual submission of a Communication on Progress (CoP) that describes its efforts to implement the ten principles. This will start from the calendar year after joining the UN Global Compact and annually thereafter. It includes:

  • A statement signed by the Chief Executive expressing continued support of the UN Global Compact and renewing its ongoing commitment to the initiative and its principles.
  • The completion of the CoP through which NTT will disclose its continuous efforts to integrate the ten principles into its business strategy, culture, and daily operations. It will also promise to contribute to United Nations goals, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals.

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world. It includes more than 15,000 companies and 3,800 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries and more than 69 local networks.
