London 1 Data Center is now open for business. A small opening tour and photo call (with social distancing, of course) took place in December to commemorate the event. We also held a virtual event to showcase the data center, along with a roundtable to discuss key data center and UK market topics.

For Global Data Centers EMEA, London 1 is a great achievement, especially during a challenging 2020, and it marks our first completed construction in the UK as the unified Global Data Centers division of NTT, which brought together the e-shelter and Gyron brands in Europe, alongside RagingWire in the US, NetMagic in India and Nexcenter and NTT Com in Asia. Learn more about London 1 Data Center and our plans for the UK market from our virtual event clips below.

Opening tour

A small tour of London 1 Data Center took place under sunny skies with comments from NTT leadership and government representatives. Dagenham is strategically located in the east of London and close enough to the Docklands to see its skyline from the 2nd floor.

London’s Docklands is established as the UK’s internet hub and serves as a backbone for the majority of the London Internet Exchange’s (LINX) infrastructure. We’re also excited to be in Dagenham as it’s quickly transforming itself into a tech and media hub. Cllr Darren Rodwell, Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council said, ‘We’re delighted to welcome London 1 Data Center to our borough. This latest addition will help support East London’s emerging technological industries and provide local jobs focused on digital skills. Today’s announcement will mean Barking and Dagenham will be able to power London’s digital led economy well into the 21st century, building into our vision of a Digital Dagenham.’ Hear more comments when you watch the tour.
