NTT Ltd. wins 2019 CRN IoT Innovators Award
Global services provider took fan engagement to a new level for Tour de France with connected experience solution New York – 19 November 2019 – NTT Ltd., a world-leading global technology services provider, today announced that CRN® a brand of The Channel Company recognized the company with a 2019 IoT Innovators Award for the connected experience solution for the Tour de France. CRN IoT Innovators deliver unique IoT solutions to enterprises across all industries ensuring organizations can incorporate IoT into their go-to-market efforts and get the most value out of their IoT investments.NTT Ltd., with Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) the organizer of the Tour de France, continues to lead the way in the integration of advanced technology in cycling, demonstrating how using data can truly revolutionize the fan experience. The organizations recently renewed their partnership until 2024, enabling NTT Ltd. to continue providing innovations to both enhance the viewing experience and attract an entirely new generation of digitally savvy fans.
Through sensors installed under the saddle of every bike in the race, the company’s specialist team captured real-time data on speed and GPS location through a moving mesh network to the NTT Cloud. NTT Ltd. then combined that input with other data sources to analyse the more than 150 million data points per race stage, providing fans with real-time insights on individual performance and team tactics that were also used to make live race predictions.
In 2019, for the 106th edition of the Tour de France, NTT Ltd. implemented or tested a number of new and updated technology features. This includes new graphics to enhance the international television broadcast with data insights augmented reality to create a vision for how home-based fans could watch and interact with the race in the future, a new machine-learning model analysing the movements within the peloton to predict potential key moments, and cloud platform automation hosting all solutions delivered at the race on the NTT Cloud, among other features.
“We are proud to be recognized by CRN as a winner of an IoT Innovators Award for our work with A.S.O. and the Tour de France. Together with specialized software-defined technologies, we exposed the intricacies of the race through data insights and storytelling, generally increasing the appeal of the race, growing the fan base and bringing cycling fans around the world closer to the action and their favorite cyclists than ever before,” said Ettienne Reinecke, Chief Technology Officer for NTT Ltd.
NTT Ltd. looks forward to delivering even more innovative solutions in the realm of connected environments, both on the biggest cycling stage in the world and for enterprise business challenges that require intelligent technology solutions around the globe. “CRN’s IoT Innovators go above and beyond the call of duty to solve IoT challenges,” said Bob Skelley, CEO of The Channel Company. “Vendors need IoT partners that understand how to implement and manage IoT solutions, and IoT Innovators help organizations capitalize on the IoT so they can stay ahead of competitors in today’s always-on, always-connected global marketplace.”
