NTT strengthens Asia Pacific footprint with new office in Myanmar
Establishes affiliate company in Myanmar with investments to improve telecommunications infrastructureYangon, Myanmar – 22 January 2020 – NTT Ltd., a world-leading global technology services provider, today announced the official opening of NTT Myanmar, an affiliate company in Yangon, Myanmar. With a US$5 million capital investment, NTT Myanmar has secured a business-to-business wholesale license from The Ministry of Commerce to offer Information and Communications (ICT) solutions and managed services to enterprise clients in Myanmar.
In underlining NTT’s commitment in Myanmar, the company has invested US$400 million to commence the construction of a "MIST" large-capacity submarine communications cable between Singapore, Myanmar and India (Mumbai and Chennai). The construction is part of a strategic joint venture for international submarine cables in Southeast Asia, with Orient Link Pte. Ltd., to improve data speed and reduce latency.
The successful application of a business-to-business wholesale license is a crucial step for NTT Myanmar to scale its operations and enhance efficiency in delivering digital solutions that meet the needs of Myanmar’s booming ICT sector. The telecommunications industry is growing at six to 12 per cent annually, faster than the GDP growth rates of many developing countries in Asia1, representing a strong business opportunity for NTT. Beyond the ICT sector, NTT Myanmar also aims to support organisation across educational and financial sectors, and develop related ICT human resources to cope up with smart innovations and enhance their learning abilities and access to the digital world.
With its portfolio of managed services, software, multi/hybrid cloud, consulting and globally delivered support services, NTT Myanmar is well-poised to support enterprises in their adoption of new technologies to support business growth, and uplift the capabilities of tech talents. To enhance the dynamism of Myanmar’s rapidly transforming digital economy, NTT Myanmar will also be involved in ICT programmes to uplift the capabilities of tech talents.
Sutas Kongdumrongkiat, NTT Ltd’s CEO for Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, said, “Today’s digital landscape is changing rapidly. Hence, we are constantly innovating and working to meet our clients’ ongoing needs. I am very pleased to announce the opening of our new affiliate office, reflecting our commitment to deliver intelligent, end-to-end solutions to our clients in Myanmar as the nation charges forward with its digital transformation roadmap. I am confident that our deep expertise in technology and strong capabilities in systems integration will drive transformational growth for businesses and foster greater economic progress for the country.”
NTT Myanmar is located at Room (1504), 15th floor, Sakura Tower, No. 339, Bogyoke Aung San Road, Kyauktada Tsp, Yangon, Myanmar.
