Extended interconnection in NTT's Munich 2 Data Center

The Munich 2 Data Center of NTT Ltd.’s Global Data Centers division becomes "DE-CIX Enabled Site"

Hattersheim/Munich – 18 November 2020 – The recently expanded Munich 2 Data Center of NTT Ltd., a world-leading global technology services provider, will become a "DE-CIX enabled site" and will thus be directly connected to the DE-CIX interconnection ecosystem, as of 1 December 2020: As a DE-CIX enabled site, NTT will offer clients at the Munich business hub direct access to all DE-CIX interconnection services, including GlobePEER, Virtual PNI or Cloud Exchange services. The latter includes DirectCLOUD and InterconnectionFLEX, as well as the recently introduced Microsoft Azure Peering Service, which enables direct protection of Microsoft 365 workloads, among other things, and is relevant for enterprise clients across all industries.

Jens Möller, Director Direct Sales of the Global Data Centers EMEA division of NTT Ltd. emphasizes the importance of interconnection services, "More than ever before, the flexibility, reliability and security of IT infrastructure is crucial for the economic stability of companies. Processes must be digitalized and also be reliably available for working from home. This requires higher bandwidths, short latency times and secure access to IT services. As a DE-CIX enabled site, our Munich location offers our clients interconnectivity at the highest level."

"Munich is one of the German metro regions that is very prosperous from both an economic and interconnection point of view", comments Thomas King, Chief Technology Officer of DE-CIX, about the Munich site. "DE-CIX Munich currently has almost 200 connected networks and new customers are joining on a weekly basis. We are pleased to be working with NTT on the expansion of our Munich site and we are confident that our joint customers will benefit from the new DE-CIX enabled site".

Munich 2 is a state-of-the-art tier 3 data center in Unterschleissheim with about 6,200 sqm data center space. A sophisticated concept consisting of redundant power supply, standardized security processes with a 7-stage security system and its own 24/7 control center guarantees the highest level of security. At the same time, NTT operates a Technology Experience Lab at its Munich 2 location, where clients can test new applications, processes and technologies in this secure environment. Especially clients in the automotive sector, who test new applications related to future mobility, benefit from the additional interconnectivity of the data center as a DE-CIX enabled site.
