In December 2024, NTT DATA’s annual Global Giving event presented a unique opportunity for employees to dedicate their time and support to local communities and charities.

We encouraged our employees to make a positive contribution in their communities by taking part in locally planned fundraising and volunteer efforts, and challenged them to contribute as much as possible.

Their generosity and community spirit were truly remarkable.

Throughout the month-long campaign, people from around the world took part in a range of social sustainability activities, including environmental clean-ups, participating in educational programs, and arranging donations of technology, books and toys.

As one of our employees observed: “These campaigns create a sense of togetherness in our company and give us the chance to show our empathy and compassion by giving back.”

Why sustainability matters to us

One of NTT DATA’s sustainability goals is to create a better world for all by using our digital expertise to improve livelihoods and contribute to a diverse, equitable and inclusive society.

Through our voluntary activities, we demonstrate our commitment to supporting local communities. These efforts align with our overarching sustainability strategy, based on three pillars: People Positive, Planet Positive and Prosperity Positive.

People Positive

During the Global Giving campaign, our employees came together to provide resources and support to their communities.

From Australia to Chile, they collected gifts for children, food for families and warm kits for the elderly. In India, we organized a blood-donation camp with 151 volunteers, and in Japan, we distributed 260kg of food to people in need.

In Spain, we collaborated to help 17 women at risk of social exclusion to find jobs. We welcomed them at our Novus offices and provided support and inspiration to help them set achievable work goals. Many of the women were migrants or survivors of gender-based violence, and this initiative gave them an opportunity to take the first step toward overcoming their circumstances.

We also conducted an AI workshop for 40 children from a Spanish Red Cross project, to promote inclusive and accessible education.

Prosperity Positive

We believe technology can transform organizations and societies, and that transformation starts with access to digital tools and skills. Through our offices in Colombia, the Philippines, Spain, the UK and the Czech Republic, 886 computers and laptops were donated to schools and education organizations.

In Singapore, we sold refurbished laptops to staff, raising SGD13,520 (USD10,130) for sustainable causes.

In Germany, we organized a “mapathon”, where participants mapped regions affected by the Noma disease in Nigeria. The maps were developed to show more accurate information including roads and infrastructure in crisis-hit areas. This information is shared with humanitarian groups and local organizations to help them plan and implement targeted relief measures more efficiently.

Planet Positive

Nearly 300 NTT DATA employees took part in environmentally focused volunteer activities in December. From cleaning the coastline in Argentina to picking up litter in the city of Toyosu, Japan, our teams were dedicated to cleaning up public spaces for everyone to enjoy.

We also wanted to play our part in reducing waste. In the US and Malaysia, we collaborated with local food charities to “rescue” and redistribute food. Meanwhile, in the UK, our talented employees sang carols at a busy commuter station and raised an impressive GBP11,500 (USD14,900) for Waterloo Foodbank.

This is just the start

We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to everyone at NTT DATA who took part in and supported this year’s Global Giving activities, and we look forward to welcoming even more participants in our 2025 events.

Our ultimate goal is to engage all of our employees in sustainability initiatives that make a real difference.
