As a leading healthcare provider, RedSalud entered a new phase in its growth and needed to strengthen its technology infrastructure to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving healthcare sector.

To achieve this, they needed to modernize their core infrastructure and implement advanced digital services to secure operational continuity and deliver a high-quality platform to support long-term operations.

Partnering with Google Cloud for healthcare innovation

RedSalud chose NTT DATA to implement its infrastructure on Google Cloud, providing the necessary support for the deployment of its Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

We configured the system, integrated it with existing systems and assessed the performance and reliability of the new environment.

A robust infrastructure was deployed using Google Compute Engine (GCE) and Google Cloud Virtual Edge (GCVE) to support a critical RIS/PACS solution.

• GCE hosted 10 virtual machines for applications and databases
• GCVE hosted a multinode cluster for image processing

Robust backup solutions were implemented to protect data integrity. The implementation included rigorous testing and detailed documentation for future reference.

Our team’s expertise in networking and VMware was essential to successfully implement a robust RIS/PACS solution on Google Cloud. Throughout the process, we worked closely with Google to overcome challenges and identify efficient solutions.

Improving patient outcomes through cloud innovation

The result was a scalable and secure platform that meets RedSalud’s specific needs.

Recent advancements in medical imaging have had a profound impact on patient care. MRI image transmission time was significantly reduced — from 20 minutes to just 45 seconds — allowing faster diagnostics and better patient outcomes.

By successfully deploying high-availability internet links and RIS/PACS across all RedSalud facilities, the project demonstrated the feasibility and benefits of internet-based medical imaging transmission, challenging traditional industry norms.
