Bharat Fritz Werner Limited (BFW), a leader in the machine-tool industry, needed to modernize their SAP platform, which had been in use since 2008. As the organization expanded and operations became more complex, the outdated system struggled with scalability and accuracy, resulting in unreliable data and limited reporting capabilities.

They required a solution that would eliminate inefficiencies in operational workflows, enhance visibility of critical business metrics and enable more strategic decision-making across departments. The solution would also need to provide agility to support future growth.

To achieve these outcomes, BFW decided to upgrade to the latest version of SAP and optimize their processes in order to improve reporting capabilities as well as the accuracy of their master data.

Tailored solutions for optimizing BFW's SAP system

To tackle BFW’s operational challenges, NTT DATA collaborated with the BFW team to assess their existing SAP environment and evolving production needs. Based on these insights, a greenfield implementation of SAP S/4HANA was proposed to enhance process accuracy and enable advanced data analysis.

Key elements of the solution included the deployment of the SAP Master Data Management (MDM) tool to organize and cleanse data, and the introduction of the SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library to boost employee productivity.

We also recommended business intelligence dashboards for real-time reporting, Variant Configuration for managing complex customer requirements for individual CNC machines, and QR code scanning via tablets to improve inventory tracking.

To minimize upfront costs and support future growth, the entire solution was designed to be delivered as a managed service.
