Reduce the total cost of ownership

Watts Water provides high-quality products, systems and solutions for the conveyance, conservation, control and safe use of water. With 39 locations around the world, they aim for efficient and cost-effective operations. This extends to the enterprise performance management (EPM) environment, Hyperion.

At the time of the engagement, Watts Water were paying a fixed rate for private cloud and managed services. When it was time to upgrade their Oracle environment, they decided to move from an on-premises EPM solution to the cloud to lower their total cost of ownership and reduce their capex.

Migrate on-premises environment to the cloud

Prior to the migration to OCI we had managed Watts Water’s QAD servers and Hyperion environment in the NTT DATA Private Cloud. This gave us some insights into how the company approaches their systems.

Watts Water uses Hyperion for financial management. When we started planning the migration of 10,240GB of block storage to cloud, we determined their business and their technical needs to design their Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) architecture.

We migrated the development, quality assurance and production landscapes from the on-premises solution to OCI. With their QAD environment on private cloud, Watts Water now has a fully multicloud enterprise resource planning solution.

Following the migration, we continued to manage and support Watts Water’s OCI environment.

Significant cost savings pave the way to success

Moving Watts Water’s Hyperion environment to the cloud created cost savings of 25% a year. These savings were realized by a reduction in capital expenditure and the ability to turn off nonproduction systems when they’re not needed.

Optimizing and automating financial and accounting processes significantly reduced manual work for their team.

The on-demand nature of the cloud environment ensures that Watts can meet the demands of the business, scaling up capacity as requirements change.
