Our leadership structure comprises three teams: NTT DATA Group Corporation Leaders, NTT DATA, Inc. Board of Directors, and NTT DATA, Inc. Global Leadership responsible for running the business and formulating business strategy.

Regional leadership

Alan Turnley- Jones

Chief Executive Officer

Alan Turnley-Jones was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Dimension Data, now NTT DATA, Middle East and Africa (MEA) in June 2022. A seasoned and well-regarded strategic leader with a strong track record of innovation, transformation, and leading cross-functional teams, he brings a wealth of global expertise to his role. Alan has been the NTT group since 1999 and has held a variety of roles over his 23-year tenure at the company, including serving as a member of the MEA executive since 2013.

Barry Curtin

Chief Financial Officer

After qualifying at KPMG in Johannesburg, Barry spent the early part of his career in the financial services industry in London. He joined the NTT Group in 2009 as Senior Commercial Lead and was later appointed as Chief Financial Officer for the Middle East and Africa. Much of his focus is on the execution of NTT DATA's strategy to transform the business’ operating model, adopt shared services and digitize certain operations and business processes.

Jay Reddy

Chief Digital & Go to Market Officer

Having spent most of his career in KwaZulu-Natal, Jay relocated to Johannesburg in 2014 to take on a wider role in the company, becoming Chief Technology Officer for MEA in 2019. He was instrumental in the planning and execution of the One Dimension Data operating model, consolidating several brands into one. Jay was appointed Chief Digital Officer in 2021 and is responsible for driving the company’s digital transformation, operating-model simplification and digital platform strategy. He is also a core member of the strategy planning team.

Andy Dikobo

Public Sector Executive

Andy joined the NTT Group in June 2012 and was Client Manager for several key municipality accounts. In 2017 he was appointed Public Sector Executive, Middle East and Africa, overseeing strategic capital projects in ports, rail, road and bus rapid transit (BRT) infrastructure throughout Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Andy is also involved in policy discussions relating to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, wireless open access network (WOAN) and 5G in South Africa. His background, experience and exceptional leadership skills make him an asset to the NTT DATA business.

Kirsty Phaal

Senior Vice President Human Resources

Kirsty has a long history with NTT and has worked in various roles within the Talent Management team for over 10 years. Prior to joining us, Kirsty was the Chief People Officer (CPO), and member of the Executive Leadership team at Ignition Group, where she had the responsibility for developing and executing on the People and Culture strategy in support of the overall business plans and strategic direction of the organisation and its divisions.

Sonia Gomane-Mabuza

Senior Vice President: Legal, Governance and Risk

Armed with an LLM, LLB and BA (Law) Sonia possesses an exceptional understanding of legal intricacies and profound commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance. Throughout her career, Sonia has honed her expertise over two decades by working in the telecommunications industry, handling a diverse range of legal and regulatory matters. As an attorney , she has navigated complex legal landscape ensuring compliance with regulatory, risk and legal requirements. Sonia has an unwavering dedication and continues to be a driving force in promoting legal excellence, governance and risk management.

Richard Hechle

Managing Executive: East Africa

Richard has over 20 years’ experience in leading and managing organizations across East Africa. He joined the NTT group in 2015 and was appointed to the position of Managing Director, for East and West Africa in 2020. Responsible for integrating and growing the business in these regions, Richard has been instrumental in implementing a business strategy that layers value-add services on connectivity to deliver a wider product offering that includes cybersecurity/resiliency, cloud services and business continuity management, among other solutions.

Burcak Soydan

Managing Executive: Middle East

Burcak Soydan was appointed as Managing Executive for the Middle East in October 2023. Burcak is a seasoned executive, having over two decades of experience in the ICT industry and with an impressive history of selling and delivering complex ICT strategic projects in the Middle East region. His last post was with Kyndryl, UAE, which he launched as a spin-off of IBM, in the Middle East region. Prior to that Burcak was with IBM for over 18 years, holding various senior country and regional director roles. He holds a Computer Science & Economics double major from Washington & Lee University and Executive MBA from Warwick Business School.

Zain Patel

Merchants: Managing Director S.A.

Zain aims to build valuable partnerships with our clients and provide opportunities for our people. This purpose allows us to develop our talent pool and grow our South African business. Within the contact centre environment, the aim is to develop bespoke approaches for businesses across various industries, improving on existing processes to retain their customer and client relationships in a sustainable manner.

Sherrard Govender

Senior Vice President: Corporate Strategy & Sustainability

Sherrard joined the NTT group in 1997 and has led numerous executive portfolios during his tenure. He was Eastern Cape Regional Executive for seven years before taking on the broader roles of MEA Strategy and Business Transformation Executive and, thereafter, Chief Information Officer. Sherrard was appointed the executive of our Affiliates Businesses in November 2021 and is instrumental in planning and executing our Geo and Business strategy. He also leads our sustainability portfolio. He holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

Thembeka Ngugi

Senior Vice President: Marketing and Demand Generation

Thembeka has over 20 years’ experience in strategic marketing, transforming brand performances across 49 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining NTT DATA, Thembeka led marketing for Visa in sub-Saharan Africa. Specializing in fintech, banking, insurance and investments, and FMCG, she excels in coaching teams, driving revenue growth and providing data-driven insights at executive level, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

Hani Nofal

Regional Head: Technology Solutions

With over 27 years of experience, Nofal is a seasoned technology executive known for his leadership in digital, security, cloud, and networking solutions. He previously led Advance Solutions Corp.’s EMEA operations and held senior roles at Gulf Business Machines, Cisco Systems, and others. At NTT DATA, Nofal drives the growth of Technology Solutions in the MEA region, collaborating with local teams to align with global objectives.

Nofal has received numerous industry honors, including Technology Innovation Leader of the Year. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Communication Engineering from the University of Jordan and completed Leadership and Sustainability Studies at MIT. At NTT DATA, he drives growth in the MEA region.

Amantha Naidoo

Managing Executive: South Africa

Amantha is the Managing Executive for NTT DATA in South Africa, bringing over 20 years of experience in strategy, consulting, and digital transformation. Renowned for identifying market opportunities and building high-performing, multicultural teams, she has led large-scale banking transformation programs and driven double-digit growth in new industries. Amantha previously held senior roles at Accenture, including Senior Managing Director and Financial Services Strategy Lead for Africa. She holds an Honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Wits and is currently pursuing advanced studies in Executive Coaching at the University of Cambridge.
