Business need
Meeting growing cloud demand in India
Since 2003, Contabo has built a reputation for providing quality cloud infrastructure. With cloud adoption increasing rapidly in India, Contabo needed a reliable, high-performance data center to establish operations in this market.
As a company headquartered in Europe, entering the Indian market meant navigating new regulatory requirements - from data protection laws to taxation and import duties. Being compliant from the beginning was crucial to avoid delays and establish smooth operations.
They also had to manage logistics for hundreds of servers and maintain uptime.
The new geography brought an additional challenge: Mumbai’s extreme heat and heavy monsoon rains made it essential to have a data center equipped with robust cooling systems and disaster-proof infrastructure.
With a rapidly growing customer base and demand in India and surrounding areas, Contabo needed a strong infrastructure partner to support its expansion.
“Setting up a data center in a new region is always complex, but with NTT DATA, the process was seamless. Their infrastructure, hands-on local support and expertise in handling both technical and operational challenges made them the perfect partner.”
Solution
Establishing a reliable presence in Navi Mumbai
Contabo evaluated 10 potential partners before choosing Global Data Centers. Our data center in Navi Mumbai offered the reliability, security and high-performance infrastructure Contabo needed to establish a presence in India.
The Navi Mumbai facility was designed to deliver low-latency, high-speed connectivity through multiple redundant network paths and direct links to major internet exchanges. The data center’s advanced cooling systems, redundant power setup and robust network connectivity perform reliably even during extreme weather. And its high-performance architecture includes advanced cooling and power systems that maintain optimal conditions for thousands of servers, maintaining uptime and consistent service delivery.
Reliable infrastructure was just one part of the equation. Setting up operations in a new country also requires people on the ground, and our local team was there to provide hands-on support. We unloaded shipments, managed logistics and gave the Contabo team guidance on local labor laws.
“Expanding into India was a big step, and we’re excited about what this means for our business. We look forward to working with NTT DATA to bring world-class cloud solutions to even more businesses.”
Outcomes
Providing competitive, customer-focused cloud services
By partnering with NTT DATA, Contabo has significantly improved service delivery for customers in India.
The Navi Mumbai data center provides low-latency connectivity and high availability, creating a seamless hosting experience for local businesses. With critical infrastructure management handled by Global Data Centers, Contabo’s internal teams can focus on expanding their customer base and maintaining competitive pricing.
The partnership positions Contabo for continued growth across the region, while reinforcing its commitment to reliable and affordable cloud infrastructure.
