NTT DATA Launches Innovation Centre Australia to Accelerate Next-Generation AI adoption in ANZ
- New facility forms part of NTT DATA's global R&D ecosystem, delivering world-class capabilities locally to industry, partners and clients across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ)
- Built to accelerate innovation, collaboration and drive industry outcomes by moving organisations past proof-of-concept trials into real-world enterprise implementation
SYDNEY, Australia July 23, 2026 - NTT DATA, a global leader in AI, digital business and technology services, has today officially launched its Innovation Centre Australia (ICA) in Sydney, establishing the city as a strategic hub for global research and development. The centre will bring global innovation to the ANZ region for clients, partners and industry.
The launch comes at a critical time for the ANZ enterprise market. While organisations across the region are investing heavily in AI, many remain constrained by siloed proof-of-concept trials. NTT DATA’s recent 2026 Global AI Report: A Playbook for Private and Sovereign AI shows that enterprises are increasingly ‘hitting walls’ due to fragmented data foundations, escalating data governance, cybersecurity concerns and capacity constraints that threaten to disrupt long-term transformation. To break through these walls, enterprises must look at integrating intelligence across infrastructure, data, workflows and security architectures.
ICA helps address these issues by establishing a dedicated collaborative environment for organisations in ANZ. ICA bridges current enterprise capabilities with emerging technologies. It serves as a launchpad for local clients, partners, public sector entities, global industry leaders, academic institutions and start-up acceleration programmes. Together they can co-create, test and scale breakthrough technologies.
“By establishing a dedicated space for technology co-creation, NTT DATA invests further in being the strategic partner that companies and governments trust to operationalise AI and implement visionary technologies securely, responsibly and at scale,” says David McKeering, Executive Managing Director, ANZ, NTT DATA.
Delivering world-class capabilities locally
For local organisations and government agencies that can benefit from this technology, partners will work with NTT DATA experts to build, test, and deploy solutions across six core technologies:
- Cybersecurity and Quantum Cryptography: Protecting sensitive information with a secure-by-design framework leveraging Attribute-Based Encryption alongside SaltGrain™, the zero-trust data security suite developed by NTT Research’s Scale Academy incubator.
- Satellite and Earth Observability: Combining advanced geospatial intelligence, optical satellite communications and non-terrestrial network convergence to build custom, real-time monitoring systems that provide organisations and governments with resilient situational awareness.
- Physical AI and operational automation: Transitioning from digital intelligence to physical AI and operational intelligence by deploying autonomous systems that monitor, adapt and act in physical environments, helping organisations improve productivity, safety and resilience at scale in complex industry scenarios.
- Photonics and next-generation networking: Utilising Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) and next generation infrastructure to deliver ultra-low latency and high bandwidth data loads, whilst drastically lowering the energy footprint required to fuel frontier computing and enterprise AI workloads.
- Digital twin simulation: Using digital twin technology to model complex systems and test future scenarios before making real-world decisions, helping enterprises optimise operations and infrastructure while enabling governments to enhance planning, resilience and public safety.
- Enterprise data architecture: Redesigning enterprise data foundations and architecture for deep intelligence, transforming raw information into highly predictive, autonomous decision support mechanisms.
Safeguarding the future
Driving regional industry transformation
From enabling banks and insurers to execute hyper-local, real-time risk aggregation, to empowering mining, telecom, energy and logistics providers with self-managing networks and intelligent supply chains, ICA delivers a clear path forward for the region's technological evolution. ICA provides local organisations with the trusted foundations required to step out of isolated testing loops, overcome data governance hurdles and confidently scale next-generation technologies safely and responsibly across their operations.
